Xiaomi and Huawei will soon have a new rival in the automotive world. It is Meizu which, like its competitors, will soon move from smartphones to four wheelsThe announcement came at ChinaJoy 2024, where Meizu CEO Liao Qinghong said the Meizu Automobile division would be launched by the end of 2024.
And the prospects seem interesting, especially if we consider that the brand is part of the Geely galaxy, already owner of Volvo, Polestar, Zeekr, Lynk & Co and Lotus.
Geely as support
Meizu’s models will be based on Geely’s Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) platform, already used for cars such as the Smart #1 and the Volvo EX30two models marketed in France.
The first car from the Chinese manufacturer will be called DreamCar MX and will be presented later this year. Chinese media outlet CarNewsChina claims that the design has already been finalized and that the car should be equipped with Meizu FlyMe, a kind of technological bridge between the operating system of a car and that of a smartphone.
The DreamCar MX teaser image also bears some resemblance to the Lynk & Co Z10, a sleek electric sedan from the Geely group brand.
At the same time, Meizu founded the “DreamCar MX” community this year, an interactive platform for fans of the brand where people can exchange ideas and participate in the vehicle design and development process.
