A driver from Naples continued to receive fines of all kinds without having committed the offenses he was accused of. The case, apparently without plausible explanations, was resolved following the owner’s complaint.
Last October 15th, he presented himself to the Fuorigrotta Traffic Police Subsection with a series of fines for violations of the Highway Code in places he had never visited. Among the documents there were also notices of non-payment of motorway tolls.
The officers, becoming suspicious, started an investigation which led to the discovery of a surreal situation: there was another car identical to that of the victim, with the same make, model and license plate, but of a different colour. City surveillance cameras allowed investigators to track the cloned car‘s movements.
Thanks to the support of the San Giovanni-Barra police station, the car was identified in via delle Repubbliche Marinare, driven by a sixty-year-old Neapolitan. During the search of the car, the officers found a false registration document, a false insurance policy and above all an altered chassis number. The sixty-year-old was reported at large for receiving stolen goods and the car was subjected to criminal seizure.
