The transport companies have requested urgent meetings with the municipalities to discuss the possible increase in the price of tickets for intercity bus transportation. Accurate calculations are currently being made and annexes to the contracts are being prepared in accordance with Article 116 of the Public Procurement Act, he explained to Plovdiv24.bg the boss of Hebros Bus Veselin Doshkov.
Since the beginning of 2022, fuel prices have risen by almost 45%. The carriers are working, but they admit that they are on the edge and may soon find themselves unable to get out. According to preliminary estimates, intercity tickets should increase by 20-25 percent, but the optimal proposal is to increase by 20 percent. On average, 2-3 levs will be paid in different directions, and only the ticket to Sofia will increase symbolically by one lev and will cost 15 levs.
Transport companies will not want an increase in ticket prices for public transport. “I somewhat approve of the municipality’s policy to keep prices for citizens and increase compensation for carriers,” Doshkov added. Following the fall of anti-epidemic measures, passenger traffic has increased, but has not reached pre-pandemic levels. Many preferred to use personal vehicles to get to and from settlements close to Plovdiv.
