Another blow for Meghan. The Duchess must bite the defeat in court!

Duchess Meghan has not had it easy lately. After leaving the royal life with Harry, he tries to establish himself in the United States. There are lawsuits with the British boulevard, but victory is in sight. Now Meghan is facing another loss.

The court ruled that the Associated Newspapers, which Meghan is suing, could use in its defense a biography of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, recently published under the title The Search for Freedom. The British daily reported The Guardian.

The media company last week asked the court for permission to change its defense so that it could use the argument that Harry and Meghan collaborated with the authors of the book. She claims that the Duchess herself provided them with information from a letter to her father in 2018 in order to present a version of the story in a way that was favorable to her.

The letter for the father is at the heart of the lawsuit. Meghan launched a fight against five articles published in 2019, which contained passages from a “private and confidential” letter. The Duke’s and Duchess’s lawyers said last week that their clients had certainly not cooperated with the authors of the book.

He claims that the biography used excerpts that were used in the articles of the defendant company. According to them, the publication of parts of the letter in the media was a misuse of private information, a violation of copyright and the Data Protection Act. “Neither Meghan nor her husband cooperated with the authors of the book, they were not interviewed, they did not even give them an interview,” the lawyer specified.

Nevertheless, the judge ruled that the defendant company could rely on a biography in court. She noted that this did not mean that she had a new defense, but only got “more details” about the case. Meghan’s lawyer asked for permission to appeal, but the court refused. However, the Duchess may apply directly to the Court of Appeal.
