Another big fire at scrap company Den Bosch, NL-Alert because of smoke

The company processes, among other things, car scrap, bicycles and refrigerators. The fire service therefore measures whether the smoke released is harmful. No one was injured. However, one employee was removed from an adjacent office building and brought to safety.

Preventing Expansion

The fire brigade is present en masse with specialist equipment such as aerial platforms, a fire extinguisher and a drone. Firefighters try to prevent the fire from spreading. It will take several hours to put out the fire.

Industrial area De Rietvelden, where the scrap company is located, is completely closed off. The A59 between Waalwijk and Oss is close to the scrap company. Motorists are bothered by the smoke and therefore have to drive more slowly.

Previous Burns

In March, the scrap company was also hit by a big fire. And earlier there were already several hot fires in the waste of car wrecks. The company was imposed a penalty in April last year because too much waste was stored, the regional broadcaster reports.

After the fire in March, Mayor Mikkers van Den Bosch wanted AVI to leave his city. He asked the province, which is responsible for the housing of the scrap company, to investigate whether the permit can be revoked.

The province later said it was investigating the company’s permits. It looked like everything was fine then. AVI promised to take measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
