The police have arrested a man on suspicion of involvement in the preparation of the attack on Peter R. de Vries on July 6, 2021. He is the eighth suspect in the case.
The Public Prosecution Service only says about the identity of the man who has now been arrested that he has Dutch nationality. He was arrested today in Tilburg.
The man is only allowed to have contact with his lawyer. The police and the judiciary suspect that he is part of the “criminal collaboration” that was involved in the murder of De Vries, according to the OM. The OM does not want to disclose details.
Marengo
Crime reporter Peter R. de Vries was shot a year and a half ago in the center of Amsterdam. He died nine days later. De Vries is said to have been killed because he helped the key witness in the Marengo trial against Ridouan Taghi.
Less than an hour after the attack, Delano G. and Kamil E. were arrested on suspicion of committing the murder. The lawsuit against them has demanded life imprisonment. They deny committing the murder.
The court in Amsterdam restarted the case about the murder of De Vries on January 6 after it was decided in November to continue the two different investigations into the attack from now on. to be treated at the same time.
In the first case, the so-called Iraqlia case, G. and E. are on trial. The case was initially expected to be completed in the summer of 2022, but as new documents were added to the file, the case was reopened.
The other case is the investigation into the clients and others involved in the murder of De Vries. This criminal case was named Hendon.
