During the event at 7 pm (Dutch time) Apple would release its first MacBooks with the new ones Apple Silicon-chips present. Apple invited media to the virtual event with the classic slogan ‘One More Thing’.
Apple announced in June with its own ARM processors for Macs, which will replace the current Intel chips in Apple computers. The company promised to launch the first Mac with an Apple Silicon chip before the end of this year, but so far has not said which models it concerned. Chances are therefore very high that this will be revealed during the new media event.
Three new MacBooks
It would be three new MacBooks: 13-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros and a new 13-inch MacBook Air, sources from Bloomberg news agency say. Unlike the new chips, the new MacBooks would not have any major design changes.
Apple is now also working on a new version of the iMac and a new model of the Mac Pro, both with new Apple Silicon chips. It is not yet clear when those new Macs will be on the market.
It is the third major Apple event in a row. In September, Apple already presented the new Apple Watches and the new iPad Air. During the event in October, the iPhone 12‘s revealed.
Goodbye Intel
Apple has been designing its own chips for the iPhone and iPad for years. Those chips with the ARM architecture differ from the chips from Intel, which use the so-called x86 architecture. That means that not all software can work on both systems, but the latest version of Apple’s operating system MacOS can.
Apple also makes it possible for software makers to adjust their programs quickly. Apple has previously said that in two years’ time all computers that the company makes will be equipped with its own chips.
Update MacOS
Apple will probably also announce more about the release of the next major update to macOS tonight.

AirPods Studio
There is a small chance that Apple will present even more new products, for example the AirPods Studioheadphones or the bluetooth trackers AirTags, which allows users to find lost items. Rumors about both products have been going on for months, but according to other rumors, the launches have been postponed to next spring. The company could also announce a new version of the Apple TV with a more powerful processor.
