Chevrolet introduced its competitor Fordu F-150 Lightning – Silverado EV electric pick-up. Although it is quite different in design from the conventional silverad and may resemble a small Bolt electric car, its capabilities correspond to a pick-up truck, not a city approach.

The Silverado EV is built from the ground up as an electric car, not sharing a platform with a conventional model. As a result, the more aerodynamic bow, and even more so, the air resistance of the WT (Work Truck) version should be among the lowest in the full-size pick-up truck segment.

However, even the WT will not receive a cabin other than a four-door with a body length of 1.8 meters in the basic arrangement. For an additional fee, there is a variable bulkhead between the body and the cabin, as well as a variable rear end, which together can extend the cargo space up to 3,302 m.

Thanks to its unique design, the Silverado EV also received a smaller, lockable and watertight cargo space under the front hood. Various networks and splitters are also available for it.

The cabin of the fully equipped version of the RST (in photos in blue) is dominated by a giant central display with a diagonal of “17”, which is complemented by an 11-inch digital instrument panel. The shift selector remains in the form of a lever under the steering wheel, as is common with pickups. There is a head-up display or a fixed glass roof and the central tunnel offers up to 31.8 liters of storage space.

RST also offers heated rear seats, air suspension, a semi-autonomous SuperCruise system that allows you to drive without holding the steering wheel on more than 320,000 kilometers of mapped roads in the US and Canada, or turning the rear wheels at a relatively large angle.

The basic WT is simpler, but it also has two displays on the dashboard, although they are not so nicely integrated into one panel and the central one is much smaller. We can also see the center console with a lot of storage space here.

Silverado EV uses the Ultium electric car platform. The basic WT will offer 517 horsepower and 834 Nm along with a range of up to 644 km on a single charge. The car will tow a trailer weighing up to 3.6 tons, later a package aimed at towing trailers will appear, which will raise this limit to 9.1 tons. It will go on sale in the spring of 2023 at a price of $ 41,595, or 902,000 crowns. But it will not be a complete “holobyt”, which is to come later with a price of $ 39,900 (865 thousand crowns).

The RST version will hit the market in the fall of 2023, first in a fully-featured First Edition. For $ 106,595 (2.31 million crowns), customers will receive 673 horsepower and 1,036 Nm, acceleration to 100 in 4.5 seconds, the ability to tow up to 4.5 tons of heavy trailer, load up to 590 kg on the body and range up to 644 km on a single charge.

The Silverado EV handles charging up to 350 kW, which in ideal conditions means recharging 160 km of energy in 10 minutes. Whether such fast charging is the standard or the surcharge is not yet clear; after all, complete specifications are not yet available.

It is also worth noting that the Silverado EV will already be equipped with the ability to charge other cars from its battery, as well as to tow a trailer in terms of both hardware and software. For example, with the electric trailer brake control or towing mode. The RST version adds a system that makes it easier to connect the system using cameras or to detect trailer disconnection by an alarm.

The two versions will not be the only ones available. Later, let’s expect it in 2024, the offer will be expanded by a terrain version or various variants of battery performance and capacity. Chevrolet promises to satisfy customers looking for pickups in all possible price categories – from $ 40,000 upwards, of course.
