for the first assembly plant in Tianjin which opened in 2018, produces 4 A320s a month, this year the company aims to produce 6 a month.

China is also pouring money into state-owned Commercial Aircraft Corporation (COMAC), which is developing the C919 narrowbody aircraft to compete with Airbus’ A320 and Boeing’s 737.

In the meantime, China Airlines is a key customer for Airbus. In July 2022, Air China, China Eastern, China Southern and Shenzhen Airlines has placed an order for 292 A320s.

China accounts for 1/5 of the global air travel market. Airbus expects annual growth of 5.3% through 2041, well above the 3.6% global average projected. That will make China need more efficient aircraft. and reduce pollution by about 8,500 ships over the next 20 years

Boeing, which makes all of its planes from US factories, has seen sales in China plummet since 2019. Last year, Boeing delivered just 12 planes to Chinese customers, compared to Airbus’ 95, and since 2018 it has taken orders. Only 18 new from China

Boeing CEO Dave Calhoun said in October that The company clearly recognizes the geopolitical risks in China. Therefore does not cause investors to take risks.

The new assembly line in Tianjin will bring Airbus to 10 FAL lines worldwide, two of which are located at its headquarters in Toulouse. in southwestern France, four in Hamburg, Germany, two in Mobile, Alabama, and two in China.
