Another 7 days of African anticyclone with heat and mugginess, then the arrival of an Atlantic perturbation will bring a drop in temperatures. This is what Lorenzo Tedici, meteorologist of the site www.iLMeteo.it, announces. “At least until the beginning of September – he states – the thermometer will rise in many areas of the country above 35-37°C with peaks of 39°C especially in Sardinia and Puglia”.
In the next few hours, however, there will be thunderstorms, even strong ones, on the central-southern Apennines and the lower Tyrrhenian Sea. In the morning, the first phenomena are expected between Sicily and Calabria, in the afternoon on the entire Apennine ridge and surrounding areas, with the most powerful showers in Sicily and on the Campanian Apennines. Temperatures, despite the showers, will rise up to 36°C in Caserta, Taranto and Terni, while they will ‘stop’ at 35°C in Benevento, Florence, Lecce and Rome.
From Thursday until Sunday 1 September the heat will increase and the storms will decrease: the last showers are expected around the Strait of Messina until Friday, then the sun will shine everywhere. Caserta, Florence and Terni with 37°C, Ferrara and Forlì with 36°C, Milan and Rome with 34°C: this is the new climate forecast for the first day of September in Italy. The weather pattern could vary significantly during the next week. “It seems that a deep Atlantic disturbance – concludes Tedici – could enter from Wednesday 4 September bringing a drop in temperatures and a lot of rain”. In detail: – Wednesday 28. In the north: predominantly sunny. In the center: afternoon storms on the Apennines and nearby areas, in Tuscany and Lazio, also in Rome and Florence.
