Another 22 new cases of Covid-19 are discovered in Latvia / Article / LSM.lv

Last day, 22 new cases of Covid-19 were registered in Latvia, according to information from the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (SPC).

In the last 24 hours, 2403 Covid-19 tests have been performed and 22 new cases have been registered.

One patient with Covid-19 was hospitalized during the last 24 hours.

Currently, seven Covid-19 patients with moderate disease are being treated in hospital. To date, 222 patients have been discharged from hospital.

A total of 304,221 examinations were performed in Latvia, 1,594 persons became ill, 1248 recovered, and 36 died.

According to the information available to the SPKC, 18 patients have been infected from known sources of infection – “including eight of them related to an industrial enterprise”.

In turn, the conditions of infection are specified for four persons. The epidemiological investigation is ongoing.

On Tuesday at the food company “Forevers”, where an outbreak of infection has been detected, 19 cases were detected. More than 90% of sick workers are virtually asymptomatic. Testing was still ongoing for workers who were not in direct contact with the infected.

CONTEXT:

In Latvia on June 10 ended Emergency to declare the new coronavir announced on 12 March. The virus is still circulating and there is no medicine or vaccine against it. Certain restrictions still apply to reduce the spread of Covid-19.
