Atlas Copco is again looking for 170 new employees for the Wilrijk site. The company has already recruited 224 people there this year.

The corona crisis clearly does not put a brake on the growth of the compressor manufacturer. The Swedish company is looking for two hundred new people for its locations in Wilrijk, Hoeselt and Overijse. The majority of the vacancies are open in Wilrijk, which currently employs 2,978 people. In Wilrijk, the company is looking for engineers, people for the purchasing and transport department, IT profiles, operators, maintenance technicians, order pickers and production employees in assembly.
“Our locations in Belgium are growing rapidly,” says Alex Bongaerts, Atlas Copco manager in the Benelux. “This is due to the increasing order volume, the use of new smart technologies and our continued investments in innovation, such as in compressors that use 20% to 30% less energy than their predecessors.”
Not necessarily experience
The extra jobs will also be created by the rapid recovery of the global economy. Atlas Copco sells compressors in more than 100 countries. They are used in all kinds of sectors, from the medical world to food production.
The company says it’s not just looking for experienced people. “Even people without a technical background can be considered for certain positions,” says Atlas Copco. “They receive internal or external training to acquire the required knowledge and skills. When recruiting, particular attention is paid to whether the candidates have an open mind, out of the box can think and above all have a desire to learn.”
