Egypt has announced the discovery of fourteen coffins in the necropolis of Saqqara. They are about 2500 years old and well preserved.
The Ministry of Antiquities reports that the tombs were found during an archaeological dig two days ago. More than a week ago, thirteen coffins were discovered in the same cemetery. On the wooden coffins you can see paintings and hieroglyphs.
UNESCO World Heritage Site
The necropolis of Saqqara is located to the south of Cairo. The ancient burial field is miles in size, belonged to the old capital of Memphis and has been placed on the World Heritage List by UNESCO. In Saqqara is also the famous step pyramid of Djoser.
