Anoop KK’s Film “Cold” Explores the Tragic Journey of Varsha: An Artist’s Search for Identity and Healing

Set against the backdrop of the chaos of the capital and the misty fields of mustard flowers, Cold narrates the deep and endless thoughts, nightmares and sufferings of the protagonist, Varsha, an artist who paints according to her mood and emotions. She lives on rent in the center of the city with her pet, Kiya. Orphaned and deprived of her childhood, Varsha is unable to trust anyone, but her life changes when she meets Meriyam Joseph, a nun who was a friend of her mother. Varsha’s physical and emotional journey with this character allows her to discover the life of her mother and her tragedy that made her an orphan.

Anoop KK is a film director, painter, editor, production designer and photographer from Kerala. Graduated in Fine Arts (four years of Painting and Sculpture) from SSUS Kalady, he continued his postgraduate studies obtaining a degree in Film Editing and another in Cinematography and Photography from CRAFT in Delhi. Anoop has more than ten years of experience in the film industry. He has written, directed and edited Cold, his first feature film. He has worked as an assistant to production designer Sunil Babu, and as an assistant director to Malayalam director Blessy. He has also worked as a creative director for film advertising agencies. As a painter, he has curated numerous art exhibitions in Kochi and Bangalore.
