Anonymous: They claim to have “hit” the Israeli army – 2024-04-20 19:33:42

In a statement on Friday, the hacker organization Anonymous claimed to have carried out a successful cyberattack against the Israeli military (IDF) and reportedly obtained 250,000 military documents.

It also says it has 20GB of data control, which includes PDFs, Word, PowerPoint and more.

Anonymous also presents an accompanying video with excerpts from PowerPoint presentations, showing IDF personnel and slides bearing logos of Israel’s army General Staff divisions.

The IDF’s response

According to IDF security assessments, the likelihood of an actual breach is minimal, suggesting a possible “psychological warfare” tactic by the hackers.

The IDF’s computer system is well secured and classified at various levels, they stress.

The authenticity of the documents in the video has not been confirmed, the Jerusalem Post newspaper said on its website.

And at the Ministry of Justice

Earlier this month, an anonymous source claimed to have breached Israel’s Ministry of Justice, obtaining 8 million files totaling 300GB, including personal information of registered individuals.

Some of the hackers, who have been operating under the banner of Anonymous since 2003, repeated their vow to “destroy the Zionists”.

Earlier this month, the national cyber agency warned of an expected increase in attacks after the end of Ramadan and an escalation in inciting attacks against Israel and its online presence.

Israeli citizens were urged to avoid clicking on suspicious links and to report any signs of cyber attacks.
