ANO Movement Leads in Recent Czech Parliamentary Election Poll

If elections to the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Parliament had been held in September, the ANO movement of ex-Prime Minister Andrej Babis would have won them with 34% of the vote, compared to the July poll, the indicator of political strength had improved by one percentage point.

Details: The Civic Democratic Party of current Prime Minister Petr Fiala and the Pirates (also now part of the government coalition) are behind her by a large margin, support for both parties has fallen.

13% of voters would vote for ODS, 11.5% for Pirates.

The Chamber of Deputies would also include Tomio Okamura’s SPD movement (9.5%), STAN (6.5) and TOP 09 (5.5).

But the current ruling KDU-ČSL would not have overcome the five percent barrier required to enter the Chamber of Deputies.

The sum of the results of the government coalition parties, that is, ODS, STAN, KDU-ČSL, Pirates and TOP 09, would be 40.5%, which would correspond to obtaining 91 mandates, which would not be enough for a majority. The ANO movement that won the elections would have received 85 seats, so would not have a majority, but could theoretically form a coalition with the ODS. Another possibility would be an ELN-SPD coalition.
