Annual income of men in El Salvador is $11,794 and of women $6,244 – Diario La Página – 2024-03-31 18:27:25

A report from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) reveals that in El Salvador men have annual incomes of $11,794 and women $6,244, so there is a gap of $5,550.

The detail is framed in the latest data collected in the UNDP Human Development Index (HDI). This institution measures the achievements of life expectancy, education and income of the population. The measurement has been carried out for 30 years.

The data corresponds to the last report updated to 2022, but it was released at the beginning of this month and where it is estimated that the per capita income of each person is $8,888.17 annually.

It is estimated that it is the third lowest figure in Central America, of the gap between men and women and that in the workplace it is also 31% in favor of men. Men have high incomes for an average of $47% and in that sense, the UNDP estimates that the average annual income of men is $11,794 and that of women is $6,244.

The same in the level of participation in schooling, men have an advantage on average of 7.6 years and women 6.8 years.

In total, the UNDP monitors 193 nations, so El Salvador is ranked 127 with a Human Development Index of 0.674, being surpassed by Panama with 0.82 and Costa Rica with 0.80.

In the rest of the Central American countries it is also detailed that men have higher incomes than women: In Nicaragua, $3,715; in Guatemala, $1,142; in Honduras, $8,836; in Panama and $7,434 in Costa Rica.
