BEIJING, March 21 (Xinhua) — The China Meteorology Bureau (CMA) has released an annual update on the current state of global climate, China Science Daily reported Tuesday.
The report contains the latest information regarding the observation and assessment of the global climate. It includes various aspects such as an overview of the global underlying climate, monitoring of the atmospheric circulation, monitoring of the oceans, monitoring of snow cover and sea ice, major global meteorological catastrophes, and major weather and climate events.
In 2022, most global land surface temperatures were near or above normal, according to the report. Europe, China, the United States, Japan, Pakistan and India had recorded heat records. Meanwhile, France, Portugal and Spain recorded their highest temperatures ever in May.
Snow cover in the Northern Hemisphere and Eurasia was nearly constant in 2022, according to the report, while China experienced greater snow cover. In both the Arctic and Antarctic, sea ice extent was less than usual.
The report shows China’s latest achievements and advances in monitoring global temperatures and precipitation, atmospheric circulation system, sea temperature, snow cover and sea ice.
