The Sandy Colon Peltyn Foundation of Excellence recently hosted its annual awards gala to support the Latino Chamber of Commerce (LCC) Scholarship Fund. The event, held on Saturday, June 17, 2023, took place at the prestigious Westgate Las Vegas resort & casino.
The gala aimed to recognize and honor individuals who have made significant contributions to the educational growth of Latino youth in the Las Vegas community. The Señoras de Excelencia and Señores de Distinción, both men and women, were celebrated for their dedication and commitment to improving the lives of young Latinos.
Among the distinguished winners were Sandra Douglass Morgan, President of the LV Raiders, and Edith Fernández, PHD, Vice President of Nevada State College, who were recognized as Ladies of Excellence. Joe Lombardo, Governor of the State of Nevada, and Solomon Dennis “Sol” Trujillo, CEO of L’Attitude Ventures, were honored as Gentlemen of Distinction.
Unfortunately, Governor Joe Lombardo was unable to attend the gala due to his participation in a parade organized by the Vegas Golden Knights players on the Strip. In his absence, the District councilor 3 of the Las Vegas City Council, Olivia Diaz, collected his award on his behalf.
Gerard Ramalho and Emilia Pablo were responsible for presenting this year’s winners with their awards. The evening was filled with elegance, as guests enjoyed a haute cuisine dinner, spirits, and captivating entertainment. Renowned choreographer and pioneer of Latin American folklore, Ixela Gutiérrez, coordinated the entertainment, ensuring a memorable experience for all attendees.
The Sandy Colon Peltyn Foundation of Excellence’s annual awards gala continues to be a significant event in Las Vegas, bringing together influential individuals who are dedicated to supporting the educational growth of Latino youth. Through their efforts, the Latino Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Fund can continue to provide opportunities for young Latinos to pursue their educational dreams.
