After 6 years since Devika and Varun in ‘Ananda’ became familiar to the Malayalees, Annu Antony and Arun Kurien reunited ‘Pookalam’ is hitting the theatres. They also acted in the movie ‘Hridayam’. They share their friendship and life beyond the busyness of movies through social media. Pookalam is the second film directed by Ganesh Raj after Anand. Annu and Arun talk to Manorama Online about the changes in their choice of movies and life as they move from Anand to Pookalam:-
A life unaffected by cinema
‘The approach to cinema is not what it was when Anand was made. In the past, when Ganesha would say a retake, he used to say, ‘Ganesha this is enough, I can’t do it’. Now I will ask ‘if I go with a take’. So there have been some positive changes. Like other jobs, cinema is seen as just a job. Cinema is just a part of life. On the other hand, I have done content writing, taught children, and made films because I felt a little love for films. A comfort zone is created without knowing it. People in the know call me to the movies. Ananda, Heart and Pookala all happened like that. Trying to change it a little bit.’ Annu says Anthony
A dramatist named Vijayaraghavan
‘I have several scenes with Vijaraghavan sir and KPAC Leelamma in the film. He used to tell us the stories of past dramas. Then they watch us act and then say that it would be better if we did it like this. It is said that there is no point in acting only the face, but the body should also be used. Many tips were given during dubbing as well. Leelamma was really like a mother’ says Annu Antony
