Announcing the Ten Selected Authors for the International Book Fair “From the Author to the Reader”

After several weeks of exchanging books and ideas, the Reading Committee determined by the Ministry of Culture, through the Undersecretariat for Development and Cultural Regions, was able to reach an agreement to define the ten authors who will present their book at the International Fair “From the Author to the Reader”, on Thursday, May 11.

Ten writers from the province were selected to present their book on Misiones Day, at the Buenos Aires International Book Fair. The selection -without order of merit- was made by a Reading Committee. Is about:

“Oberá – Architecture, landscape and historical context”research by Pablo Lucero
“Urgent Drawings”, by Esteban Cardenas
“The Club of the Uninformed Ladies”, stories and poems by Maria Tresolds
“Interpretation and Presentation of the archaeological heritage in the open air”, essay by Maria Alejandra Schmitz
“After the Golden Dream 2”novel by Renata Otto
“Graveyard of Souls II – Edgar’s Secrets”, novel by Damián Pereira
“Refugio”, Stories and poems by Hugo Skupieñ
“Fire Clan” Tales by Orlando Chamorro
“The School of Lovers”stories and stories by Rodolfo Roque Fessler

Selection criteria

“This year we received more than 40 titles (we exclusively requested that they be published in 2022), in a wide spectrum of themes and styles: novels, short stories, poetry, essays, children’s literature, and historical research”explained Laura Lagableundersecretary in charge of the organization of Missions Day.

The Reading Committee was made up of representatives from different sectors dedicated to literature: Osvaldo Mazal, writer and professor of Literary Theory at UNaM; Belen Silva author and current president of SADE Misiones; Ivana Roth, Graduated in Communication, representing the Ministry of Culture of the Province; Lucia Perez Campos poet and creator of “Wednesday Poetry”; Liliana Nery Professor of Letters and specialist in Children’s and Youth Literature XXI Century and Carla Andruskevicz, PhD in Human and Social Sciences, member of the research team on “Literature and Territorial Authors” of the Semiotics Laboratory.

“It is a reading committee, not a jury, since we seek to bring a balanced selection of missionary letters to the fair, doing justice to the styles and themes presented”Lagable clarified. The selection was made taking into account criteria of: opportunity of the topic addressed, literary excellence and accounting for the variety in the styles presented.

Thursday May 11, Missions Day

The International Book Fair “From the author to the reader” has already begun at the “La Rural” property, and runs until May 15, 2023. The day scheduled for Misiones to present its authors is Thursday, May 11 at 5:00 p.m.

During the week, a day will be defined to be able to make the presentation in Posadas, as a preview of the one in Buenos Aires, where time must be carefully timed. The management of this very special day for missionary letters is coordinated by the Ministry of Culture of the Province.
