Announcement of the 7th Edition of the Emergent! Cine Lab and the 12 Participating Projects

The event announced the 12 projects that will participate in the new edition, which will be held on November 28 and 29 in Madrid.

On November 28 and 29, the seventh edition of the Emerging Short Film Development and Co-production Forum will be held at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid! Cine Lab and the names of the 12 participating new projects are already known, selected from more than 220 registered.

This figure represents an increase of more than 30% in registrations, which represents the highest participation figure compared to the seven editions of the event.

Emergent! Cine Lab is the only forum and laboratory of its kind currently held in our country. It is a commitment to promote Spain, and specifically Madrid, as a key space in which to locate and promote the growth of the talent of emerging audiovisual professionals in Spanish from around the world.

This year, in addition to short film projects from Spain, Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Mexico, the call has been opened to five more Spanish-speaking countries compared to the last edition: Bolivia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Peru and Uruguay.

In total 12 projects will participate in Emergente!, coming from five nationalities, seven Spanish projects and five from Latin America, whose creators are new. Furthermore, in this edition parity stands out since half of the short films are directed or produced by women. They will be presented in pitch format to a professional audience who will be able to register soon through the event website.

The short films selected are eight fiction, three animation and one documentary: angels dead (Spain), directed by Jan Amor Sandiumenge and produced by Jordi B. Oliva; Backside Ollie (Spain), directed by Bárbara Fernández Pérez and produced by Two Little Octopus; Chiejaus, ceremonia ancestral (Argentina), directed by Ignacio Leonidas and produced by Rodrigo Tenuta; Caregivers (Spain), directed by Daniela Cuenca and produced by Rocío Benavent y Saltarinas; Delirium (Colombia), preselected by the Mercado del Bogotá Short Film Festival / Festival de Cortos de Bogotá – BOGOSHORTS (Bogotá, Colombia), directed by Carlos González Penagos; The North (Spain), directed by Cordelia Alegra; Inseparable (Spain), directed by Ainhoa ​​Bolaños Alonso and produced by Batik Films and The Other Side Films; The bright one (Spain), shortlisted by Curt Creixent of the Valencian Institute of Culture, directed by Manuel Ochoa Monte; Anger (Colombia), directed by Daniela López Moreno and produced by Alfredo Marimon; lead blood (Peru), directed by Totino Ríos and produced by Natay Aures; Tiluchi (Bolivia), directed by David Andrés Mesa and produced by Guillermo Sainz; and Inhales (Spain), directed by Lucía Ezker Recalde and produced by En Buen Sitio Produccion.

The selection committee was made up of five Latin American audiovisual professionals: Amaya Izquierdo, Costa Rican producer; Felicitas Raffo, Colombian producer; Jaime E. Manrique, Colombian film analyst and founder of the Bogotá Short Film Festival / Festival de Cortos de Bogotá – BOGOSHORTS; Fernando Vílchez, Peruvian filmmaker and co-founder of Filmadrid; and Ricardo del Conde, Mexican director.

The purpose of Emergent! is to be a prescriber of an international audiovisual industry eager for new perspectives, facilitate an annual meeting point between new producers and creators, promote emerging audiovisual talent in Spanish from around the world and give an international boost to the short film industry through development , financing and co-production of projects.

Emergent! It is organized by AIC (Association of the Short Film Industry). It has the support and financing of the Community of Madrid, Madrid City Council and EGEDA, and also with financing from the ICAA through the European Union Next Generation funds. And with the following collaborators: BFM – BOGOSHORTS Film Market, the Mercado del Bogotá Short Film Festival / Festival de Cortos de Bogotá – BOGOSHORTS (Bogotá, Colombia), Short Film Market of the Figari International Short Film Festival (Sardinia, Italy), LANZA de Abycine, Short Film Corner of the Cannes Film Festival, and Curt Creixent of the Institut Valencià de Cultura.

The 12 selected projects will be eligible for the following prizes, six in total, three totaling €11,000 in cash and another three for project development.
