Unity Technologies has announced a new version of its Unity 6 engine. To demonstrate the capabilities, they published a new video for us with a story about the main features of Unity 6, which pale in direct comparison with Unreal Engine 5.
The new version of the engine will receive many technologies to optimize the performance of video cards and processors, as well as various new features for the simplified construction of beautifully lit scenes, but the video clearly shows serious problems with loading high-quality models, which are minimized in UE5 thanks to Nanite. You can see similar problems in, for example, Cyberpunk 2077, but with great difficulty you will find them in Lords of The Fallen.
There will also be no equivalent for Lumen in Unity 6. Yes, game developers can add ray tracing to their projects, but Lumen in its software version already demonstrates excellent results and requires much less resources from video cards.
