“The Requiem is meant to commemorate the innocent victims of war, and Beethoven’s Fifth is a promise of victory to come,” explained Met director Gelb. According to the information several Ukrainian solo singers such as tenor Dmytro Popov and baritone Vladyslav Buialskyi will perform.

Russia’s attack on Ukraine began on February 24, 2022. Since then, the opera house in Manhattan has not worked with artists or institutions that support Russian President Putin.
