Not tested positive for corona myself and yet in quarantine for almost a month. It is the boat where Annika van Kester (22) from Vught is in. Her father was the first to get complaints and turned out to have corona. Then it was her mother’s turn. And all this time Annika is at home.
“It’s very spicy. There are days when you are completely done with it. You just want to meet people again, ”she says. “I have never walked so much with the dog. He is very happy with it. Fortunately, I can do that, because I don’t have a corona myself. ” She has now completed two tests.

Her father got complaints in early October. He decided to get tested and the result turned out positive. Because he had a high fever, his family members were immediately quarantined with him. The Van Kester family has therefore been staying indoors since October 8.

Much unclear
What Annika finds particularly difficult is that there is so much uncertainty. When her father was free of complaints for 24 hours, he was told that he could go back to work, despite his wife having corona at the time. “But then we were called for the source and contact research of my mother and we were told that this was not the intention. They all say something different. ”

There was also uncertainty surrounding the infection of her mother. She initially tested negative. Annika therefore appeared again at work in a pharmacy for two days, but this “did not feel good”. “My mother is never ill, so we didn’t really believe that first result. When she did test positive afterwards, we were allowed to quarantine again. ”

“You miss a lot. My sister is pregnant and went to announce the gender of her child. My mother and I have now received that from a distance. It was also my grandfather’s birthday. We were still unsure whether we could go there or not. Because then the result of my mother’s test was still negative. I’m so glad we didn’t. You shouldn’t think about infecting him or others. ”

Tidy
The quarantine was not all annoying, by the way. “We cleaned up a lot of things. Photos pasted into albums. Those things you normally never get around to. I baked a lot of cakes and watched Netflix of course. ”

A board game with sister was also played via FaceTime. “They normally visit us every day. So we still had something fun together. ” Fortunately, she was also able to do some administrative tasks for her work at home. “Otherwise I would have gone really mad.”

Just keep going and it’s over. Annika can go outside again on Saturday. Then she has been quarantined for 30 days. “If I could, I would have gone to the cinema. But the measures are of course stricter. I think I’ll just go out with a friend or my sister now. ”
