Thetfordoise Annie Saint-Ours recounts the perinatal mourning she experienced in her book “515 grams”.
On October 15, 2004, she underwent a medical termination of pregnancy. She gave birth to Samy, a little boy weighing 515 grams, fully formed and complete, 29 centimeters from head to toe. What followed was the most difficult ordeal she had ever experienced; she would never erase it from her past.
She publishes her story in order to counter the taboo linked to perinatal mourning. Annie Saint-Ours states that “above all, bereaved parents need their grief to be welcomed and recognized by those around them.” The launch of his book will take place this Saturday, October 14 at the L’Écuyer bookstore, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Additionally, October 15 is World Perinatal Bereavement Awareness Day. She will participate in an angel ceremony organized by the Regional Mourning Center and Le Périscope this Sunday, October 15 at 9 a.m. at the Maison de la Culture in Thetford Mines.
