Imphal: A case of sedition has been registered against CPI leader Annie Raja who visited the riot-hit areas of Manipur. The Imphal police registered a case for alleging government-sponsored riots in Manipur.

Apart from Annie Raja, National Federation of Indian Women (NFIW) representatives Nisha Sidhu and Diksha Dwivedi have also been charged with sedition. But Deeksha approached the Supreme Court against the sedition case and the Supreme Court stayed Deeksha’s arrest till July 14.
The case is that he called for riots against the President and the Governor.
Sections 121A, 124A, 153/153-A/ 153-B, 499, 504&502 have been imposed.
Annie Raja and her team held a press conference on Saturday after visiting the troubled areas of Manipur. It was mentioned that state sponsored violence in Manipur.
The People’s Union of Civil Liberties (PUCL) has come forward to condemn the case against Ani Raja.
“This shows the brutal, malicious and unconscionable misuse of power by the Manipur Police. “The police are using the law to intimidate citizens who are trying to find the truth by visiting conflict zones,” PUCL said in a statement.
