Annemarie Haverkamp: Audiobook

The little black male Jef came from the shelter and we picked up the gray tabby cat Robert from acquaintances.

Jef and Robert were our two cats. Seasoned viewers of Good times Bad Times know immediately that we had named our pets after the Alberts brothers from the first Dutch soap series. For years, Rob and I watched the experiences in Meerdijk together every evening at eight o’clock. That changed when Job was born in 2004. We became characters in our own soap opera that took a much more unlikely course and never had a character written out of it.

So Jeff and Robert. In our family they were not blood brothers: the little black male Jef came from the shelter and we picked up the gray tabby cat Robert from acquaintances. Our intended Robert turned out to have been given the name Whiskey by his owners when he was born. Also fine, we left it that way.
Why am I telling this? Because it’s funny that the man we named our cat after, Robert Alberts, recently published my new book I’ve lived has spoken. Just like our male Robert was not really called Robert but Whiskey, Robert from GTST also has another name. The (voice) actor is called Wilbert Gieske.

If you had told me at the beginning of this century that this man whom I watched daily on TV twenty years later, at the request of my publisher, would record an audiobook from me, I would have said that this state of affairs is extremely unbelievable. used to be. Even for a soap. But it did happen.

In Good times Bad Times the brothers did not always get along well together. At our house, Robert simply did not tolerate his roommate Jef: he beat him all over the room. Little affectionate Jef eventually came under a train behind our house. We’ve always suspected that Robert gave him the last push.
