Annelid animals: classification, characteristics and role

Jakarta

Annelids is a group of animals made up of segmented worms with a body shape such as rings, loops, or segments.

The term ‘annelida’ comes from the Greek, from the word annulus meaning ring and oidos meaning shape. Thus, annelids are ring-shaped worms. In the scientific classification it is included in the kingdom Animalia, superphylum Lophotrochozoa and phylum Annelida

Annelid-like worms have segmented bodies, are triploblastic with a true body cavity (coelomate), and breathe using their skin, as quoted from the book Strategy and HOTS Biology Question Bank Class SMA/MA 10,11,12 by the Eduka Master’s Team.

There are 15,000 species of annelid with body lengths ranging from 1mm to 3m. An example of an annelid that has a length of 3 m is the Australian earthworm. It can live freely in general such as soil, sea water and sea water, but some are parasitic. So quoted from the book Encyclopedia of Invertebrate Anatomy Written by Ardian Pgs.

Classification of annelids

Quoting a book written by Umi Kulsum, Biology for SMA/MA Class X Semester 2the following classification annelids:

1. Polikete

Poli means many and chaeta means hair, so there are many hairs on the worm’s body. The skin is covered with cuticle, has a nervous system scale with a central nervous system is the ganglion.

Examples are wawo worms and palolo worms. It can be consumed containing a high protein content, usually found in the waters of the Maluku Islands and Fiji-Japan

2. Oligochaete

This worm has a small amount of hair. These worms usually live in land and fresh water. It is hermaphrodite so that the body has ovaries and testicles. During reproduction, the epidermis thickens, called the clitellum. And, having removed the cocoon, a new individual will be born. Breathing is carried out by diffusion through the entire surface of the body. Example: earthworm.

3. Hirudinea

These worms include bloodsuckers. For example leeches and pacets. Leeches usually live in wet areas, before sucking blood, the leech will inject an anesthetic substance so that the victim won’t feel sick. To avoid being bitten or being bitten by giving tobacco water, salt or smeared with balm or eucalyptus oil.

Animal characteristics of annelids

Here are the features annelids according to the book Biology for SMA/MA Class X Semester 2 Written by Umi Kulsum:

1. The shape is convex and segmented.

2. Each segment contains the organs of excretion, reproduction, nerves.

3. Each segment is called a somite, while the structure of the somite is called a metamere.

4. The nervous system of the rope ladder.

5. Open circulatory system (blood circulates through blood vessels that are not fully connected).

The role of annelid animals

Although some types of annelids are parasites, annelids also play a role in human life. The following is the role of book annelids New Edition Pocket Book High School Biology Class X, XI and XII Written by Kusnadi, SPd:

1. As a human food, it contains high protein content

2. Used as raw material for livestock

3. Can be used as a raw material for medicine, such as earthworms for typhus

4.Leeches can be used medicinally, to clean pus and as an alternative to blood washing

Well, that’s all the uniqueness annelidshappy learning detiker!
