But at a dinner, again for the book, where Van de Klundert is single, he has to say that he is crazy about De Jong. That is in May 2019, two and a half years after their very first meeting.

According to De Jong, he makes a decent declaration of love that evening. “Then he texted a whole confession of love: ‘I would go for you tomorrow, I could give everything, we fit together…’ Even though we hadn’t kissed or anything yet,” she says. “Yes, at that moment I was in love too. My relationship was good, but I had never really been in love with my boyfriend. I thought: I’m going to meet Ray one more time on Sunday and then I’ll stop.”
But that’s not what’s happening. After that Sunday, De Jong admits that she really wants to try it with him. “I thought: if I don’t jump now, I’ll run something that could have been super beautiful.”

Then she immediately takes action. She breaks off her relationship with the father of her children. “I didn’t want to cheat on my ex, so I went straight to him,” she explains. “I said, ‘I’ve fallen so in love, I can’t help but explore this.’ That was of course painful, but we ended it nicely with our children, with a kind of ritual farewell.”
And De Jong’s ex is also happy again happy. Within a month of his breakup with Kluun’s new love, he got into a relationship with a friend of the coach.
