Less than one before the start of the Paris Olympic Games, the mayor of Paris made a resounding announcement. The city of Paris will not be completely ready to host this major sporting event.
“We’re not going to be ready”
It has been more than a year since the city of Paris strives on several fronts to welcome in good conditions the 2024 Olympic Games. But it’s still not enough according to the words of the mayor of the city, Anne Hidalgo. She stated on the microphone of TMC, two areas in which Paris risks not being ready next summer: emergency transport and accommodation including sheltering the homeless. « In fact, there are places where transport will not be ready because there will not be the number of trains and the frequency« .
« We are still in difficulty, already, in daily transport, and we cannot manage to catch up with the level (…) of punctuality, of comfort for Parisians“. However, this is not the first time that France and Paris have welcomed a major sporting event over the last 10 years. The euro 2016 and more recently the 2023 rugby world cup, were held in the hexagon. If the JO represent a larger organizationthe organization of the city is not yet ready, and the worst is to be feared for visitors to what we call ” the city of love “.
