The current economic situation in Germany is tense. Automotive suppliers are taking a path into the unknown. They are still sticking to Germany as their location. But how long is the question? Franconian companies are in a positive mood based on the latest press releases, but are aware that the pressure of transformation is heavy. Judging by US presidential candidate Trump’s latest statements, he will do everything to ensure that German companies produce in the USA. A statement that is anything but surprising from the Republican candidate. It also shows that the achievements from Germany are sometimes more valued abroad than here, where they are taken for granted.

At the beginning of August, the federal executive board of the Young Union of Germany was on a delegation trip to the USA. “The exchange with the German-American Chamber of Commerce in Philadelphia was particularly enriching, where we were able to discuss in more depth the economic relations between our two nations and the influence of the respective governments on this partnership,” said the JU Bamberg City district chairwoman and member Federal Executive Board of JU Germany, Annamarie Bauer. The German-American Chamber of Commerce has started a pilot project to implement the German model of training in America. So far, the college system has been dominant, in which school fees are paid and it is more like university education without much practical training. It is obvious that a rethink must take place, especially among companies, as they first have to invest money in training.

“The response reported by the German-American Chamber of Commerce speaks for itself. The project is moving into the next phase for good reason. Especially in times when training in Germany still faces an image problem, it is a sign to be proud of our training system. Politicians must work to ensure that training in Germany is used again,” said Bauer.

“With a view to the German economy in particular, it is important that politicians prepare for both scenarios of the US presidency. To achieve this, we also need a government in Germany that focuses on the strengths of the economic sector and remains a reliable partner in the European Union. This is the only way we can survive as Europe between the world powers USA and China,” concluded JU district chairwoman Bauer.
