Anna Wintour (74), the editor-in-chief of Vogue, has revealed the unusual nickname that her grandchildren used to give her. In an episode of the podcast “Origins with Cush Jumbo” Anna spoke about her three grandchildren Oliver, Ella and Caroline, who come from the marriages of her children Charles Shaffer and Bee Carrozzini (37). The fashion icon revealed that her grandchildren didn’t just call her “Grandma” but even had a special, albeit unusual, nickname for her: “Dog”.
Anna explained: “I’m the lady with the dogs, and that’s how the children probably perceived it.” She also talked about how her grandchildren don’t really know what she does for a living. “We don’t talk about work. We play tennis and talk about the dogs,” she said. In an earlier “73 Questions” interview with Vogue The fashion icon had already revealed that her grandchildren currently simply call her “Anna” and do not use “Grandmother” or a similar title.
Away from the glamour of her career, Anna also gave personal insights into her early professional years. Speaking to Cush Jumbo, she confessed that she was a “terrible assistant” and couldn’t master basic skills like typing or sewing buttons. “I was terrible and got fired from Harper’s Bazaar before I landed at New York Magazine”she said.
