“Our hearts were filled with love and joy. We are expecting our second child. Life just got a little more beautiful, we can’t wait for the adventures that await us,” wrote Veithová on Monday to the photos on Instagram (you can access the images with the arrow on the right).

Several current or former stars of downhill skiing such as Mikaela Shiffrinová, Frida Hansdotterová, Nina Haverová-Losethová or Michaela Kirchgasserová sent her congratulations on Instagram in posts or “through the heart”.

Veith is the long-term partner of former snowboarder Manuel Veith, they got married in April 2016. In July 2021, she gave birth to her son Henry.

The thirty-four-year-old native of Hallein is the most successful Austrian skier of the past decade and enjoys great popularity in the country. Several portals of our western neighbors published the happy news on Monday.

Veith twice became the overall winner of the World Cup (2014 and 2015), she is also the Olympic champion from Sochi 2014 in the super G. She also won silver in the giant slalom at the Games in Russia.

In Pyeongchang, she was close to defending the gold medal, but by a hundredth of a second, she was beaten by the Czech Ester Ledecká, who created a sensation, in an unforgettable race.

Before the end of her career, Veith’s health was troubled, she suffered three serious knee injuries.

She achieved her best result in the 2019/20 farewell season in the super G at the Russian center Roza Chutor, where she finished seventh.
