Anna Valle plays Wanda Ferragamo in the docufilm that brings the talent of an exceptional entrepreneur to the small screen. The last appointment with “Illuminate”, the docuseries produced by Anele in collaboration with Rai Cultura which tells the stories of four great protagonists of the twentieth century, will be broadcast on Monday 30 January at 11.15 pm on Rai 3. The docufilm traces the extraordinary story of Wanda Ferragamo, one of the first entrepreneurs of Italian fashion. Wife of Salvatore, the shoe designer famous among Hollywood stars, and mother of six children, Wanda sees her life change when her husband dies in the 1960s. It was at this moment that she decided to take over the reins of the company, becoming in a few decades responsible for one of the most important brands in the world, not only for footwear, but also for men’s and women’s prêt-à-porter. The story kicks off right in the delicate moment following Salvatore’s death, when Wanda, at thirty-nine years old and with no title in business management, has to choose between selling the company or taking over its management. In a narrative structure that winds back and forth in time, Anna Valle interprets Signora Ferragamo through letters and notes written to her children and grandchildren around the world, later collected by her niece Ginevra Visconti in the biography “Nel libro rosso di Tà. The life of Wanda Ferragamo”. In parallel with the fictional sequences, the story is enriched with archival materials, family and institutional films, and the contributions of some witnesses including Carlo Conti, his daughter Giovanna Gentile Ferragamo, his grandchildren Ginevra Visconti and Diego di San Giuliano, the director of the museum and the Ferragamo Foundation Stefania Ricci, the journalist and fashion critic Mariella Milani and the historic butler Silvano.
