Anna Lou Castoldi, daughter of Asia Argento, talks about life away from the spotlight and her love for her girlfriend Dora.

Grandparents, mom and dad are famous, but Anna Lou Castoldithe daughter of Asia Argento e Morgan, for the moment does not seem to want to be part of the world of entertainment. Interviewed by FanPagethe 21-year-old told about her life away from the spotlight and her love for her girlfriend Dora with whom she lives.

“I understood that I grew up in a unique family. All of them are in their own way, only that mine is a little better known and many expect me to have a different lifestyle from my peers, but that’s not the case,” she confessed , “I’ve always cared a lot about privacy. If I go out with my parents they recognize us, when I’m alone it’s very rare. And so I’ve been able to live up to now more or less like everyone else”.

Currently in Portugal for a djset evening where she performs under the stage name Normal – because yes a life away from the spotlight, but still impossible to escape the inherited artistic spirit – Anna Lou is evaluating which path to take in her future: “Many things can be my own path at the moment. I am open to developing myself in relation to the world in all forms of expression. It is difficult to give structure to this need to express myself at the moment and I try to do it in every area. Maybe by reflex, or by my nature, there is something in Italian cinema today that blocks me. I almost feel anxious about throwing myself into it”.

After a role in the television series Baby of Netflix some time ago, it’s impossible not to wonder if cinema could also be a viable path, with mother Asia as an actress and director, a grandfather as Darius Silver and a grandmother like Daria Nicolodi: “As much as cinema is a passion of mine, I would almost prefer to be behind the camera rather than in front of it. I like writing screenplays, thinking about the direction of films or photography. Being a subject, that is an actress, I don’t mind but if it is only one of the parts of the overall project to participate in. I would prefer to be more an integral part of the creation of a representation. If someone thinks it could be useful to them, I would gladly participate, because I think I have seen the means that I grew up in the environment”.

But if there are many possibilities for the future and the ideas are not yet entirely clear, Anna Lou is very sure of one point in particular: her relationship with her girlfriend Dora, with whom she lives together. “I live with my girlfriend Dora and we support ourselves in a small village” he in fact revealed, “I’m doing a lot of jobs in this period, also because I still can’t get by with art. So I try to get busy. I’m bilingual and I tutor English for kids, I deliver pizzas, but I’ve worked as a waitress, I’ve even worked as a labourer, I’ve painted houses and moved houses. A little bit of everything”.

“We live together, we have many projects and it’s a serious story, but Italy seems to push young people, minorities and the ‘different’ to go elsewhere” he continued, “I’m in Portugal and the energy I felt here you don’t hear it. Even from the police. I never had the slightest mental structure on discrimination. When at school they taught that there were people who discriminated due to the color of their skin, I thought they were joking. Then growing up I did found and also in Italy it is very present and very sad as an attitude”.

A situation that is not entirely rosy, in short, for those who are still considered “different”, and who are making them reflect on a possible emigration: “I am very attached to Rome, I have always had a good time and I am fond of it, but elsewhere we could find ourselves better. I don’t know if it’s the Vatican or something else, but for the history we’ve had we should be among the most evolved peoples from all points of view. Instead, unfortunately, there is a lot of ignorance that leads to hatred. better with ourselves things would change”.
