In the same historic hall where on September 3, 1974 Andreas Papandreou presented the Founding Declaration of the PASoK, the event of Anna Diamantopoulos was held for the party’s 50th anniversary.
The event, which started with a dynamic video tribute to the important anniversary, was dedicated to the young generation and the candidate for the president of the PASOK in most of her speech highlighted the problems of young people, followed by an open discussion with young men and women who were at the event and they raised questions.
Anna Diamantopoulou characteristically mentioned, among other things, in her speech:
“In this room exactly half a century ago, the spark of change was ignited and the sun rose for all. 50 years have passed. PaSoK ruled with achievements and mistakes.
For the last 15 years we have been living in crises and the biggest difference with 1974 is that the youth do not see opportunities in front of them and do not participate.
Today our political system is in liquidation. The ND government is on a continuous downward trajectory. The official opposition is disintegrating. The PSoC – the Great and Government PSoC can and should be the starting point for the future. There may be a strong opposition tomorrow and a government the day after tomorrow.
To make PASOK Big and Governing again. For a Greece with democracy and security for all. For a Greece that Produces. For a Greece with justice and social cohesion.
For a Greece pioneer in the 21st century.
For a Greece of young people who stay, return, create and prosper”.
During her speech, addressing young people in particular, she noted:
“You are called today to break down the walls of a dead-end government policy that wants the youth to live on benefits, to put aside the ‘nothing happens in this country’ – let’s all say YES IT DOES. We deeply love our homeland and want it to be fair, prosperous and pioneering. But no one will do it for us. But first and foremost is the recovery of trust between us and the assumption of responsibility. And I want to rebuild this trust. And I want to serve this responsibility as the president of PASOK. With realism and logic, faith in rights and unity, with high ideals and an open party.”
