Former PAM chairman Ann Selin says Kotiliesi– magazine about his accident. At Christmas, he fell in the bathroom at night and hit his side on the edge of the toilet seat. The pain was intense, but the bones remained intact. Selin relied on rest.
When her condition worsened, Selin was taken to the hospital by ambulance and underwent emergency surgery. After that, he was in the intensive care unit for a week. The colon ruptured inward, and repair operations were unsuccessful.
Selin had a stoma and was able to go home. The situation worsened again. When Selin was going for the sixth operation, despair struck.
– The stoma doesn’t work for me, and if you put it in now, my life is over, Selin remembers saying.
The operation was successful, and the stoma has not been needed so far.
– Gallbladder removal is still ahead. That’s what I’m trying to endure, although to be honest, I’ve had more than enough from surgeries.
Selini has been tested on the health front before. Selin has experienced, among other things, a severe bulging of the cerebral artery and breast cancer.
Selin says in Kotiliede that Maria Jungner was an important support for her when she had cancer. Jungner died suddenly in March. Selin recently remembered his friend in an interview with Iltalehti.
– When I had tough moments, I couldn’t have asked for a better friend. Maria knew how to sympathize and did not force her views. Maria knew how to adjust to the situation and was also concretely supportive, Selin told Iltalehte in March.
