Anita Pointer, former member of the group ‘The Pointer Sisters’ has died.

She died Saturday at her home in Beverly Hills, California. The cause of her death was cancer.

“The Pointer Sisters” was formed in the early 1970s by four Pointer sisters – Ruth, Anita, Bonnie and June – and achieved its greatest success in the 1970s and 1980s. Among the group’s most popular hits are “Yes We Can Can” (1973), “Fairytale” (1974), “Fire” (1978), “He’s So Shy” (1980), “Slow Hand” (1981), “I’m So Excited” (1982), “Automatic” (1984), “Jump (For My Love)” (1984) and “Neutron Dance” (1984).

The group received three “Grammy” awards.

Bonnie Pointer left the group in 1978 and June Pointer left in 2004. Anita Pointer stopped participating in the group in 2015 due to health problems.

The current lineup of The Pointers Sisters is Ruth Pointer, her daughter Isa and her granddaughter Sadako.

June Pointer died in 2006 and Bonnie Pointer in 2020.
