Anita Melderes’ new exposition / Diena

The bright canvases just encourage you to dispel the grayness of February and indulge in your dreams, and all the same – to think about
for past summers or departing in the bloom of the future. Works selected from collections of different years and
the exhibition that just took place could be called a small but interesting retrospective. The exhibited works were created
in the period from 2014 to 2021.

Anita Melder was born in Riga on May 18, 1949. In 1973, she graduated from the painting department of the Latvian Academy of Arts and was admitted to the Union of Artists of Latvia. Master of Arts.

From 1974 to 2004, she worked as a teacher in the evening preparatory courses of the Latvian Academy of Arts, and from 1995 to 2009 as a lecturer of color studies in the Functional Design Department of the Latvian Academy of Arts.

Since 2007, head of the Department of Fine Arts, Faculty of Architecture, Riga Technical University, docent.

Since 1972, she has participated in many important exhibitions in Latvia and abroad: in Germany, Denmark, Spain, France, USA, Japan, Russia, Lithuania, Estonia and other countries. She has held numerous personal exhibitions in Latvia, as well as abroad (in Germany, Canada, Belgium and Norway).

Exhibitions in the Latvian National Art Museum in 1995 and 2002, in the Jūrmala City Art Museum in 2009 and in the Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Center in 2014 were supplemented by catalogs dedicated to the artist’s work.

Anita Melderes’ paintings are in museums and art repositories in Latvia, Lithuania. In Georgia, Russia, Japan, as well as in private collections in Latvia, Russia, USA, France, Belgium, Denmark, Germany and elsewhere.

The artist’s works are reproduced in albums, books and periodicals published in Latvia and abroad.
