The Bavarian State Minister of the Interior, for Sport and Integration Joachim Herrmann recently awarded Lower Franconian citizens with the medal for special services to local self-government.
These are personalities of communal life who have made a special contribution to communal self-government in Lower Franconia. Government President Dr. Eugen Ehmann handed the awardees from the Wrzburg district the certificates and medals during a ceremony. Anita Feuerbach was among the 25 people who received the municipal medal of merit in bronze. The Zell a. Main congratulates the honorary 1st mayor and appreciates her work for the place.
As a member of the municipal council (March 1990-April 2020), as Second Mayor (May 2002-Sep 2007), as Acting First Mayor (Sep 2007-Feb 2008) and as elected First Mayor (March 2008-April 2020), she has always been a concern to develop the market community well and effectively for the future and to keep an eye on the needs of the residents of the community near the city.
A lot of changes, planning and building work were carried out. In addition to development concepts for the entire village, she also tried to improve the situation in the old town through individual measures such as house purchases, old town conferences or district management. During her term of office, the energetic renovation of the town hall with an extension in 2011, the renovation with the renovation of the Maintalhalle in 2012, the new construction of the EDEKA store with its location in the center of the town in 2014, the creation of a new center in 2017 , the renovation of the Jewish leaf huts to the information point in 2018 and several road expansion measures carried out.
In 2020, the planned leisure area, adjacent to the Neue Mitte, and the construction of the day care center Ein Haus für Kinder Zell, were completed. Also the cath. The kindergarten is nearing completion, as is the handover of the renovated chapter hall of the former Unterzell monastery. Other measures such as the extension to the primary school for lunchtime care or the expansion and renovation of the fire brigade house are in the planning or construction phase or are about to start.
Culture and tourism were also important to the mayor. For example, when she was mayor, Zell joined the Wein-Wald-Wasser LAG and the ZweiUferLand tourist association, and the expansion of cultural activities with the well-known Zeller Kulturmeile and the renowned events in the communal culture cellar as well as the new summer theater piece Herr, Open My Lips were continued and supported.
