Animal Rights Organization Protests Aspro Parks Over Dolphinaria

Around twenty members of the animal rights organization Bite Back mobilized on Sunday afternoon in front of the Boudewijn Seapark in Bruges, targeting the animal park’s parent company, Aspro Parks.

The Spanish group Aspro Parks owns 68 amusement parks, including six dolphinariums. “Dozens of intelligent and stress-sensitive animals must thrive in conditions far removed from their natural environment for commercial purposes,” denounced Anthe Lainé, member of Bite Back.

In recent years, the animal rights organization has already protested against the dolphinarium at Boudewijn Seapark several times. Sunday, it was an international campaign, also carried out in the Netherlands in particular but also in Spain, country of origin of the Aspro group, where the multinational was targeted by a virtual action. “By harassing the company through all channels, they will at least have to consider our request,” Bite Back hopes.

The ultimate goal is to end dolphinaria. “By operating dozens of amusement parks, Aspro proves that entertainment is also possible without animal suffering. We would like to remind the company of its responsibility in terms of animal welfare. A wild animal has nothing to do with it. with entertainment and certainly shouldn’t suffer for it.”
