A sad photo of a dog is currently being shared and commented on en masse on Facebook: It shows a Cane Corso mix, about one year old, tied to a pasture fence and apparently abandoned. A customer found the animal like this on Tuesday morning (September 24) in Krommert near Habers Mühle, reports Enrico Seeber from the Westmünsterland Dog Training Center in Bocholt, whose account posted the photo on Facebook.
The male dog is now in the animal shelter in Bocholt and is being kept separate from other dogs so that he can calm down. The dog training center asks anyone who can provide information about the dog to contact them or the town of Rhede. The dog is chipped but not registered.
Fearful but friendly
The young dog initially reacted fearfully to the people who found him, but then “friendly,” says Enrico Seeber. It is noticeable that there was a bucket of food and a muzzle in front of the animal. “The muzzle was very expensive,” says the dog trainer. The animal was also well cared for and well fed. It is possible that his owner could no longer cope with him. The Cane Corso mix breed is currently very popular, especially among young people. The animals are impressive and strong, but are not on the list of dangerous dogs.
Nevertheless, they need good training. The Cane Corso mix was bred to guard the farm independently. “That’s why they make their own decisions.” And that makes training difficult. For many, the dog becomes too expensive when they find out that a good dog trainer costs 80 euros an hour. Perhaps that’s why the young animal was abandoned, Seeber speculates. Of course, another scenario is also conceivable: the classic scenario, for example, that the owners wanted to go on vacation. “You can’t even imagine how stupid real life can be sometimes.”
The young male dog is now supposed to rest in the animal shelter. In the meantime, the animal rights activists are calling the local authorities to see if he is registered there. Numerous users on Facebook have already expressed interest in the animal and would like to take it into their care. However, the animal rights activists want to wait until the case is solved.
