Expected March 20, Animal Crossing: New Horizons intends to delight the large license community. And although 8 players can collaborate on a single island, there cannot be several games in progress on a single console.

Indeed, the game sheet, present on the official site indicates at the bottom of the page thatonly one island can be registered on Switch, regardless of the number of registered accounts or copies ofAnimal Crossing: New Horizons owned. Thus, either the players live on the same island, or they must have their game and their console:

It is not possible to register multiple islands on the same Nintendo Switch console. Regardless of the number of users registered on the console and even if you have several copies of the game, there can only be one island registered per console. A Nintendo Switch console and a copy of the software are required for each island.

This was already the case on previous consoles, but none allowed to register multiple accounts. For the moment, Nintendo did not explain the reasons for this choice, but this is in addition to unable to store game related data in the Cloud, which had caused a petition, to date with 21,754 signatures.
