Animal Care Center of New York City Reaches Critical Capacity and Suspends Dog Admissions

The Animal Care Center of New York City (ACC) announced through its website that it can no longer accept dogs at its facilities, due to “reaching critical capacity.”

However, they clarified that adoption services and delivery of animals that require urgent medical attention or that represent a risk to public health remain available.

“The shelter is over capacity and we do not have space for new arrivals. We need to suspend the admission of dogs to focus on caring for the animals already in the shelter and finding them a home or forever place,” they explained.

They also point out that the measure is only with dogs. “If you have found one on the street, we ask our community to consider keeping it in your home instead of bringing it to the shelter,” they said.

Likewise, they invite you to adopt and you can complete the process through the same website
