The animal ambulance in Gelderland was called out yesterday for a two-meter snake that had crawled into a barbecue in a backyard in Zeddam in Gelderland. It is not yet clear who the snake belongs to.
It is a gray rat snake (a non-venomous species). Employees of the animal ambulance caught the snake and brought it to the shelter. The reptile was probably kept as a pet because it does not occur in nature here, writes Broadcasting Gelderland.
The animal ambulance Gelderland East warns people to pay attention to the barbecue. “Check that there are no nests or animals in here.”
Employees found the rescue operation quite exciting. “It’s not often that we get a report of a snake.”
