Anies on Ready to run for president in 2024: let political parties form a coalition

Jakarta

Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan spoke about his statement in Singapore regarding his readiness to run for president in the 2024 general election. Anies said the authority for someone to run for president lies in the hands of political parties.

“And that’s how my friends often say I’ll be done in Jakarta, then we’ll see, what? Because when we get to the democratic electoral process and others, the authority is not in the hands of one person but in the hands of political parties”, he said. Anies Baswedan told reporters after a discussion with the Jenggala Center at the JS Luwansa Hotel, Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Saturday (9/17/2022).

Anies said political parties will proceed to determine the best presidential candidate for Indonesia’s interests. He said his decision to enter politics would await the expiration of his term as governor of the DKI.

“So let the political parties go ahead, let the political parties form coalitions. We will see. And we believe that these political parties will prioritize the interests of the nation, the interests of the state, internally form coalitions and determine the candidates in them”, he said.

“I am a person who has just finished. This is finished. Later, we will see if I will be in the political area or in other areas, we will see tomorrow,” he continued.

In a discussion with the Jenggala Center, Anies discussed ideas and policies around the city of Jakarta. According to him, the activities carried out so far are to bring a feeling of equality to the union.

“I tell stories about what the ideas of narratives and policies are in Jakarta. Why is this? Because Jakarta is a place where all the elements of Indonesia come together and the activities we have done so far in Jakarta have an orientation to bring a feeling of equality, feeling of union, feeling of justice, and I say that this is the fundamental foundation for which this republic was founded “, he explained.

In addition, he said he received the Jenggala Center vest as a souvenir from the Jenggala Center. Anies was seen wearing the jacket.

“Oh, that was a memory, I just came, I got a vest on my return home, I wore the vest, it’s nice to wear a vest, I usually wear a vest too, right,” Anies said.
