The DKI Jakarta PPP Regional Leadership Council (DPW) recommends the Central Executive Board (DPP) to nominate DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan and the Governor of East Java Khofifah Indar Parawansa on 2024 presidential election. This recommendation will be brought to the PPP Rapimnas, Friday (15/4).
“The DKI Jakarta PPP DPW recommends the PPP DPP to nominate Brother Anies Rasyid Baswedan as the RI presidential candidate and to nominate Ms. Khofifah Indar as vice president in the 2024 election,” said Acting (Plt) Head of DKI PPP DPW, Farhan Hasan Al-Amri in Cikini. , Thursday (14/4).
Farhan explained that the two regional heads were considered successful in leading their respective regions. In addition, especially Anies, is considered capable of slowly eradicating polarization in society after the 2017 DKI Pilkada.
“In 2016-2017, there was an extraordinary polarization in our republic and it was centered in Jakarta. It was related to the DKI Pilkada. Thank God Pak Anies has proven that it is precisely at the center where the polarization occurred, Pak Anies has succeeded in eliminating or significantly reducing hostility and the polarization that is happening in DKI,” he said.
In addition to the recommendations for the presidential and vice presidential candidates, Farhan said the regional leadership meeting also recommended that the PPP faction in the DPR fight for the revision of Law Number 29 of 2007 concerning the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. It is hoped that the revision of Law 29/2007 will bring changes for Jakarta to be more just, dignified, and more in favor of the local wisdom of the Betawi people.
“By incorporating the provisions of chapters and articles regarding the existence of the adat assembly, the Betawi assembly, as well as continuing to pay serious attention to the aspirations of the people of Jakarta regarding changes in the authority of government autonomy at the provincial or city level,” said Farhan.
The name Anies Baswedan excels in a number of presidential candidate surveys. The survey results of the Indonesian Survey and Polling Research Institute (SPIN), for example, show that Anies’ electability is in the top three positions.
He only lost to the electability of Defense Minister Prabowo (26.5 percent) and Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo (17.2) percent. Meanwhile, Anies’ electability is 13.9 percent.
Then, the SMRC Survey released Thursday (7/4) showed that the electability of Ganjar and Anies had strengthened in the past year since March 2021.
In a simulation using the open method of 43 presidential candidates, the trend of support for Ganjar more than doubled from 8.8 percent in March 2021 to 18.1 percent. Meanwhile, Anies increased from 11.2 percent in March last year to 14.4 percent in March 2022.
