DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan inaugurated the gate Chinatown in Glodok, West Jakarta. Anies also had time to distribute red packets to the lion dance.
Monitoring detik.com At the location, Thursday (30/6/2022), since 17.30 WIB, Anies was seen wearing a red batik shirt with a dragon pattern. He seemed to be accompanied by the ranks of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government and the initiator of development gate and representatives of ethnic Chinese.
Anies and his entourage initially walked along the Chinatown area of Glodok towards the gate. They are accompanied by a procession and lion dance performances.
Visitors flocked to Anies. They jostled with other visitors to take pictures with the former Minister of Education and Culture.

The situation got out of control because the residents forced them to walk towards Anies. The officer finally reminded residents not to push each other and take turns taking photos.

After that, Anies then watched the lion dance performance. After that, Anies gave angpau to the lion dance players.
A few minutes later, Anies inaugurated Gate Chinatown symbolically by opening a placard covered with a red curtain.
“By the grace of God Almighty, the Jakarta Chinatown Gate in the Pancoran Glodok area is now inaugurated and rebuilt to its starting point in 1938,” said Anies.
Anies said that this gate is a marker of a historical area where residents have gathered and interacted for a long time. At the same time confirms the position of Jakarta as a global city.
“Hopefully this area will continue to develop, continue to be a driving force for the progress of Jakarta’s culture and leave a beautiful and deep impression for all who visit and have activities in it,” he explained.
