Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan talked about the wisdom of the Formula E event which was originally planned at Monas and was later ‘evicted’ to Ancol. Member of the DKI Jakarta DPRD from the PDIP faction, Gilbert Simanjuntak, believes that this should have been conveyed by Anies at the plenary session of the Interpellation Formula E.
“It’s a pity to say Anies who said that there were parties who evicted the Formula E event from the venue at Monas to Ancol, during the event at a political party. It should have been explained in a chivalrous manner at the Interpellation Plenary Session of the DPRD, including the destruction of the urban forest by deforesting Monas,” Gilbert said in a written statement, Monday (30/5/2022).
Gilbert said an explanation Anies dishonest. Because, according to him, Anies himself actually made deals with foreign parties without involving the DKI Jakarta DPRD.
“This explanation is dishonest, because it was Anies himself who made Formula E deals with foreign parties without involving the DPRD, and clearly violated the rules,” said Gilbert.
Gilbert also mentioned the issue of choosing Monas, which was originally intended to be used as a Formula E venue. He said that the Monas election was carried out without consideration and violated the rules, thus causing no permission to be granted.
“The choice of Monas as a venue was also without good consideration and clearly violates the rules regarding cultural heritage. So if the authorities do not give permission to use Monas, it is in accordance with the law. Do not violate the rules as if they were right and make the impression that they are victims even though he violated the rules,” he said.
Gilbert said that no one had recommended that Formula E be held at Monas. He called Anies a public lie.
“The request for Monas to become its own venue from the start was very chaotic, because the Governor wrote to the State Secretariat saying he had obtained permission from the Cultural Conservation Expert Team (TACB), even though it was from the Restoration Session Team,” he said.
“After being open to the public, instead of apologizing for lying to the public, he even said it was a typo. Even though it was clear that Prof. Mundarjito (the late) as Chair of TACB denied that he had never given a recommendation, meaning it was not a typo. It is better for officials to get used to telling the truth, because the public not a fool,” he continued.
